ARSHAD FARUQI

Arshad Faruqui graduated with a degree in architecture from the D. C. E. T. Karachi, in 1988 he worked for Ar. Habib Fida Ali, and later went on to receive his master’s degree from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1992. He is a practicing Architect, Landscape designer and a Visual Artist. He also designs tableware, fountains and furniture under the banner of Copper and Steel. In 2012, Faruqui has served for the Institute of Architects, Pakistan’s (IAP) as the Chairman of Karachi Chapter-IAP, and as Chairman Board of Architectural Education, Institute of Architects Pakistan (BAE-IAP) from 2015-2017.

He was the co-editor of K’ARCHITECTURE, 21 Chairs and 8, and edited and compiled the ‘ Interior Design of Pakistan’. He has participated and curated several exhibitions. Faruqui is the co-founder of Black Olive Publications, Pursukoon Karachi and Pakistan Craft Council. In 2012, he was the recipient of IAP’s design excellence award and has also received honourable mentions in 2014 and 2016.
