Imran Mir (1950-2014) – artist, sculptor, designer and advertising trendsetter
Mir’s work is a bold example of minimalism and modernism, with a unique sensibility of art and design both. Imran Mir chose to call his shows ‘Papers on Modern Art’ considering each body of work as a formal discourse or theoretical paper of sorts. Hence the titles of his works follow: First, Second, Third and so on – till his last Twelfth Paper on Modern Art.

Mir was one of the founder members of the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture in Karachi and was actively involved in establishing The Citizens Foundation among other philanthropies.

Mir graduated from CIAC (Central Institute of Arts and Crafts Karachi) in 1971 and went on to study at the Ontario College of Art and Design in Canada.
