In 1983, Michel Foucault spoke at length about the concept of 'Parrhesia' in a series of lectures on Discourse and Truth, delivered at the University of California in Berkeley.
Although 'Parrhesia' is loosely translated into English as 'free speech' (and the Parrhesiastes as the one who speaks the truth), this notion can be better understood as:
'speaking truly, freely and fearlessly'.
