If calligraphy came in to give a Pakistani touch to our painting, here calligraphy has been transformed for the first time into a painting not merely by colouring the letters but by using them as subject of a painting, complete with space and atmosphere. This is a new ground broken by Arshed and it is a definite step forward in the growth of Pakistani Art.

Defying the laws of writing and skillfully dissolving the words into abstract compositions Rashid Arshed paints with the sure handedness of a pro.
Arshed is an artist grappling aesthetic problems in a painterly manner. He is a bold and daring colourist with a keen eye for abstract composition and textured nuances.
