Seema Nusrat (b. 1980, Karachi) received her BFA from Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture in 2002 and MFA from Nova Scotia College of Art & Design, Nova Scotia, Halifax, Canada in 2012. She has participated in several residencies and her work has been exhibited in group and solo shows in Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Japan, Spain and the UK. She is currently working as Visiting Faculty at Indus Valley School of Art & Architecture. Primarily practicing as a sculptor, Nusrat’s work most often finds its basis in the reformulation of found materials, contextualized through the investigation of not only formalistic concerns, but also the socio-political, the urban and the politics of the body.
