This ‘coronatine ‘ experience in our lives and this time will be what the younger generation will always remember, just as our grandparents spoke of the 1918 Spanish flu epidemic. For some of us who treasure our private musings, our thoughts, our space and our time, these weeks have offered what people like myself have craved for years; a time when without feeling the least guilt ridden we can stay inside our caves, our havens with ourselves, without demur of any kind. This sounds selfish and dreadfully unsocial, and I would be the first person to accept the indictment. Yet when this period ends I will be happy and relieved for all those others who do not have our advantages, who must feed themselves and their families everyday. For millions in our country the lockdown is a nightmare and it is for them that I wish that this time will pass and pass as soon as they would wish it to.
