MARYAM RAHMAN

Maryam Rahman is a multi-disciplinary artist, a graduate of the Slade School of Fine Art, London, drawing instructor and the Estate of prominent Pakistani artist, Lala Rukh. Her work has ranged from video, installation, public art intervention, sound, photography, montage, miniature painting to drawing. She has a particular affinity withdrawing as a thinking tool, a direct mode of expression in which the drawing medium becomes an extension of the self as well as an independent and complete formal art discipline.

Her commercial work has also run parallel to her art practice. She has employed her involvement with the moving image to work on several experimental music videos, one of which (Rabba by Mekal Hasan Band) was selected as Video of the Year in 2004. She has also extensively illustrated children’s material for NGOs for Women’s and Children’s Rights.

Maryam Rahman has had 2 solo exhibitions and participated in several group shows. She lives and works in Dubai.
